🎤 Microphone Usage

Danko uses your device’s microphone to listen to surrounding speech and translate it into your chosen language in real-time.

Key Points:

We only listen when Live Dubbing is ON
The microphone is completely inactive when the app is not in use
You can stop listening at any time by tapping the STOP button
Clear indicators show when listening is active (orange dot on iOS, microphone icon on Android)

🔒 Data Processing

Audio data is processed securely for translation purposes:

Audio is streamed to our translation server via encrypted connection
We retain audio and translations to improve our models
All data is fully de-identified
We do not collect email addresses or other personal information
Translation processing happens in real-time and is not retained after delivery

Your privacy matters:
Danko never records or saves audio without your explicit action.

⚠️ Translation Accuracy Disclaimer

Danko uses AI-based translation and is not 100% accurate.

Translations may contain errors, omissions, delays, or misunderstandings due to:

Background noise, accents, or unclear speech
Technical limitations of AI and speech recognition
Context, idioms, or specialized terminology

Do NOT use Danko for:
Medical, legal, financial, immigration, or other critical decisions where errors could cause harm.

Always verify important information with a qualified professional or certified interpreter.

Danko is designed to assist with casual communication, not replace human interpreters in important situations.

📖 How to Use

Step 1: Select your desired translation language from the dropdown
Step 2: Tap “Start Live Dubbing” to begin listening and translating
Step 3: Speak or let others speak - translation plays automatically
Step 4: Tap “Stop” when done to turn off the microphone

⚙️ Manage Permissions

You can manage Danko’s microphone access in your device settings at any time.

iOS: Settings → Danko → Microphone
Android: Settings → Apps → Danko → Permissions → Microphone
