📱 No Account, No Personal Data Collected
Danko does not require user login or account creation. There are no usernames, passwords, or email-based accounts.
- We do not collect email addresses, names, or personal identifiers
- Purchases are handled entirely through your Apple App Store or Google Play Store account
- We do not collect or store any payment information
🎤 How We Handle Audio Data
When you use Danko’s live translation feature:
- Audio is streamed to our translation servers via an encrypted connection
- Audio is processed for translation in real-time
- We may retain de-identified audio snippets and translations to improve our AI models
- All retained data is fully de-identified — it cannot be traced back to any individual user
We do not store any data that could identify you personally.
🔐 What “De-Identified” Means
De-identified data has had all personal identifiers removed. This means:
- No device IDs, IP addresses, or user identifiers are stored alongside audio data
- Retained audio snippets cannot be linked to a specific person or device
- The data is used solely to train and improve our translation models
Because we do not store identifiable personal data, there is no personal data to delete. If you stop using the app, no trace of your identity remains on our servers.

⚖️ Legal Compliance
Canada (PIPEDA): Danko is developed in Ontario, Canada. Under PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act), de-identified data that cannot reasonably identify an individual is not considered personal information. Since we do not collect or store personal information, PIPEDA’s consent and deletion requirements do not apply to our retained data. We nonetheless follow PIPEDA’s principles of transparency and data minimization.
GDPR (European Union): Under GDPR, truly anonymized data falls outside the scope of the regulation. Since Danko does not collect personal data and all retained audio data is de-identified at the point of collection, GDPR data subject rights (access, erasure, portability) do not apply to this anonymized data. However, we follow GDPR best practices by being transparent about our data handling and minimizing data collection.
CCPA (California): CCPA applies to businesses that meet specific thresholds ($26.6M+ revenue, 50K+ consumers’ data, or 50%+ revenue from selling data). Regardless of whether these thresholds apply to us, Danko does not sell personal information and does not collect personal data that would trigger CCPA obligations.
